A foundation in web...

While studying Computer Science at Ohio University in the mid-1990s I started an interactive media company. As the sole programmer I was responsible for the technical parts of interactive computer based media and websites. Back in those days JavaScript was just starting to take hold and server side backends were CGI driven with languages like Perl.

After our company merged with Hanson, Inc. (at the time, concentrated on videos and event staging) my time became more focused on the web as it skyrocketed in popularity during late 1990s and 2000s. The tools changed from CGI and scripting languages to early server-side environments like Active Server Pages (ASP).

My experience in multitier web backends continued throughout this time and included ASP.NET and Java/Spring platforms. Projects were powered by various database platforms, search/index servers and other service integrations.

Embracing mobile development...

After the release of the iPhone and the iPhone SDK, we began talking with clients about app development. My time in the early 2010s was split between web and mobile development before being entirely mobile development by mid-2010s. Projects quickly evolved to complex, server-driven apps working with other teams at Hanson.

Work on the side...

I started developing TNEF's Enough for macOS in late 1990s and created this site shortly after to share it with Mac community. The app has always been free. As a child growing up on a Macintosh, I was hugely influenced by the freeware/shareware world of the Mac pre-internet. The decades of hobbist macOS development was able to merge into the daily iOS mobile developer career.

Writing about it along the way...

I often get the opportunity to write about technology while at Hanson. My most recent series involves mobile app development and different advancements in computer vision:
